POWER PURCHASE AGREEMENTS FOR NOT-FOR-PROFIT CUSTOMERS
So much of the economic viability of solar energy projects is derived from the monetization of the Federal Investment Tax Credit (ITC). However, projects at not-for profit customers don’t qualify for ITC. So, how can these not-for-profits enjoy the benefits of clean, renewable solar energy? The answer is a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA).
The essence of a PPA is that the customer purchases electricity, not equipment. Their electricity rates are fixed for a long period of time, enabling the budgeting of energy costs, something difficult to do now.
Schools, municipalities and other governments, hospitals and other not-for-profits interested in solar should consider our PPAs.
